Take 5 Against the Scammers

I am (finally) moving house.  My lovely wife gets a new kitchen, bathroom, bedroom furniture, carpets, curtains etc and the trade-off is that I get a new TV.  Got to be big and got to be OLED but not too expensive because apparently ‘we’ are on a budget.

So Black Friday deals a plenty – imagine my luck when I find an online seller who is offering the TV of my dreams at nearly £500 less than everybody else on the market.  Website looks professional, plenty of great reviews on the site, plenty of great brand names endorsing them.  My wife is already spending the £500 I am saving.  On a lawn mower and vacuum cleaner.

But hold on.  It MUST be too good to be true!  And alas a quick check of a trusted reviewer tells me that it not quite the deal I am looking for.

No real cyber skills needed – just a bit of common sense and the notion that it really is too good to be true.  It may end in my disappointment at having to pay full price, but at least I will be able to clean the carpets and keep the grass tidy while my wife watches the TV in glorious OLED vision and surround sound.

Take care out there!  There ARE loads of great deals to be had from reputable companies but know who you are dealing with and make sure that you do your research before paying.

Yes – you can pay by credit card to ‘safeguard’ yourself – but who needs the hassle?
